The school

Travel journalism taught by people who travel and publish

We started STJ to change how this craft is taught: live classes, small groups and a faculty who work every day for magazines, publishers and tourism brands.

  • 100% online school
  • Live classes in English
  • Students from 66+ countries
  • Publish in our magazine, Travel & Create

What makes us different

A school built
for the real job

We set out to rethink traditional education: practical, hands-on training shaped by what editors, publishers and the tourism industry actually need today.

Close attention

Nobody here is just a number. Small groups, tutorials and an academic team who know your project and stay with you from start to finish.

Live classes

You work in real time with your teachers and classmates, debate in class and get personal feedback on every assignment.

Working professionals

You learn from journalists, writers, photographers and tourism professionals who are publishing and working in the field right now.

Practice from day one

A curriculum designed so you finish with published stories, a portfolio and a final project built on a real trip.

How you study

Live, online
and hands-on

Live classes with a global cohort, every session recorded, and a final project you plan, travel and publish.

01

Live online classes

A fixed start date, a faculty of working professionals and classmates from every continent.

  • Live classes in Central European Time
  • Every class recorded
  • Personal feedback on your work
02

Final trip and project

Your master’s ends on the road: you plan a trip, produce the story and present it.

  • Personal tutoring before you go
  • A real assignment, start to finish
  • A portfolio piece you can publish
03

Dual qualification

Finish with your STJ master’s certificate and, if you want it, a university diploma.

  • Issued by a partner university
  • European (60 ECTS) or American
  • Optional, with an administrative fee

Can’t choose between travel and food? Our dual master’s combines both specialisms in one integrated program.

Our faculty

Learn from people
who do the job

Award-winning writers, editors and photographers who are still in the field, still publishing and still pitching.
