Program description
The Master in Travel Photography is a 100% online professional program (Zoom + virtual campus) designed for photographers, journalists and visual creators who want to turn images into projects with their own identity, combining technical depth, storytelling, cultural insight and professional vision.
Pedagogical approach
You learn how to observe, work in the field and tell visual stories with coherence, ethics and editorial judgment. The destination is secondary: what matters most is the process, the intention and the visual narrative.

- Build a coherent visual narrative through selection and sequencing

STJ Professional Master's Certificate
Awarded by the School of Travel Journalism when you complete the program and your final project.
University Professional Master's Diploma
Issued by a partner university. Choose a European diploma (60 ECTS credits) or an American one. Optional, with a €500 administrative fee.

Final master's project
Your final exam won't be a written test. It will be packing your bag.
Your final project is an applied photography project based on a real trip, or on fieldwork in your own surroundings. You bring together everything you learned (technique, visual storytelling, ethics, editing and digital communication) into a coherent, publishable body of work.

How long is the STJ's Master in Travel Photography?
12 months. Live classes start on Monday, February 1, 2027.
Is the master taught in English?
Yes. All live classes, materials and feedback are in English, with faculty who work as professional photographers and photojournalists.
Does the master include a university diploma?
Yes, as an option. You always graduate with the STJ Professional Master's Certificate, included in your tuition. On top of that, you can request a University Professional Master's Diploma from one of our partner universities, for a €500 administrative fee.
Which university diploma can I choose?
You choose the one that fits your plans: a European diploma issued by our partner university in Spain, worth 60 ECTS credits (the credit system recognized across the European Higher Education Area), or an American diploma issued by our partner university in the United States. Our admissions team will help you decide which one suits you best.
Is it an official master's degree?
No. Both options are university-issued professional master's diplomas, not officially accredited master's degrees.
Is an internship mandatory?
No, an internship isn't mandatory, but it is recommended.
Can I balance the Master in Travel Photography with my job?
Yes, the master's is designed for each student to adapt it, allowing you to balance it with your work, schedule and other activities.
Do I need previous experience or specific equipment?
No previous experience is required. You can start with the camera on your phone, but we recommend having a dedicated camera as well, so you can get the most out of every subject.
How do the monthly installments work?
You can pay in up to 12 monthly installments, financed directly by the school at a very low interest rate. Our admissions team will give you the exact plan for your case.
Is the trip for the final project included in the price?
No. If you travel for your final project, flights, accommodation and other travel costs are paid by the student. You can also base your project on fieldwork close to where you live.
When are the live classes?
There are two live classes a week, scheduled in Central European Time (CET). Every class is recorded, so you can rewatch it whenever you need.
