By Mark Montgomery.
My name is Mark Montgomery. I am half Belgian, half South Africa and half Ugandan. This might not make mathematical sense. However, it is an accurate definition of how my heart beats. I am passionate about these three countries. I am equally obsessive about all 81 countries that I have visited so far.
I have recently been appointed Editor-in-Chief at Ten Minute Travel1. I am grateful and enthusiastic, in equal measure, to have been given this monumental challenge. I hope that you will give me the same loyal support that you gave to my predecessor.
I am a Travel Journalist. I am gloriously passionate about Art, Music and Food. These three jewel-topics are universal connectors. They bring together people of all ages, beliefs and cultures. It is for this reason that my editorial bias will focus on this trio of interests. They bring us together.

Our team will highlight and comment on art exhibitions and concerts of every kind. We can’t wait to tease and tempt you with our discoveries of new restaurants and the exploration of gastronomy, both known and new. Like you, we cannot abide restaurant food that is not prepared and presented with elegance and elan. When we go to a restaurant, we want to be educated and entertained!
That said, our specialist team can sniff out any street food stall in a 100 meter radius! Great food is not only the precinct of posh restaurants. On every continent, astonishingly delicious cooking can be enjoyed in the most humble of settings.
In our showcasing of Travel Writing, we will uncover the stories of ordinary people who are doing, or have done, extraordinary things. This is my personal domain. My success in this pursuit remains an enigma. Routinely, and inexplicably, relative strangers will share their innermost feelings and intimate stories with me, as if in a confessional.
I believe that the key to being a traveller, as opposed to being a tourist, demands that our writers “Go where they tell you not to go” and “Always leave something for the next visit.”
Ten Minute Travel will present you, the Traveller and the Tourist, with exciting and engaging information, in bite-size offerings. Each of our content elements can be enjoyed in just ten minutes or fewer. Yes! That’s how we got the name of our publication.
